Counselling

Description/Conditions:

Counselling can help give you the space to explore feelings in an environment that is non-judgmental and separate from all that is going on in your life. It can help you in relationships or situations that leave you hurt, confused or doubting yourself. It may also help you to cope with events that have completely changed your original hopes of your life. At Best Practice South you can benefit from a initial session at nominal cost to see if it’s right for you.

Areas that counselling can help you with include:

  • Bullying
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Relationship
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Eating issues
  • Depression
  • Self-harm
  • Self-Confidence
  • Anger
  • Health related issues
  • Family issues relating to children and special needs.

Consultant:

Diane Furnell

Diane is a professional counsellor with experience of working with a wide variety of issues. She believes the key to successful counselling is the relationship that is built with the therapist you choose and because of this she offers an initial, session of 45 minutes for just £15, so that you can meet with her, discuss your expectations and what you would like from counselling. Diane believes it is important to for you to trust in your first ‘felt sense’ whether counselling feels right for you, discovering if you feel comfortable and at ease with her counselling approach.

The things that she believes are important in counselling:

  • The Relationship and Trust that builds between client and therapist
  • Being heard, understood and not judged
  • Feeling safe when sharing concerns
  • Gaining a greater sense of wellbeing

As a Humanistic counsellor; Diane believes that we are all unique – and that when we want to make changes in our lives we choose to seek a way of making those changes. It takes courage and determination to acknowledge the need for change and make a decision to begin counselling.

Consultant:

Angela Hughes

Angela Hughes, Registered Member MBACP (Accred), BA Hons, FdA Humanistic Counselling

Marble White Counselling offers a professional service working with Adults, Couples, Young People and Children. Although Angela’s core approach is Humanistic, integrating Person-Centred Counselling, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy depending on the needs of the client, Angela also works in a Solution-Focused way. This enables a safe and confidential environment which is empathic, non-judgmental and genuine. Angela will support you through your journey by being alongside you and listen attentively in order to understand and hear your experience.  Having an environment whereby you feel safe enough to disclose/let go of any negative beliefs, fear, anger, sadness or guilt can be extremely healing and aid self-acceptance.

Through your relationship with Angela you will learn more about yourself and be able to identify any obstacles that are preventing you from reaching your full potential.  Angela will support you to draw upon your own coping strategies.  Angela also helps individuals to look at how they interact and act, based upon behavioural patterns learnt as a child.  This helps release old feelings and express emotions in the present.  Once self awareness evolves, individuals then have the choice of changing the way they relate to the outside world.

In addition to the ‘talking therapy’ creative methods can be used such as art materials, puppets and stones.  These stimuli make it easier to communicate deep issues, fears and worries.  They provide a medium through which ideas and feelings can be expressed freely.

Angela specialises in relationship difficulties, depression, addiction, bereavement, autism and abuse.  Angela will also deal with a range of other issues, please get in touch for more information.
