Art on display at Best Practice

Portsmouth Art Society

Rita Judd, the chairman of Portsmouth Art Society (PAS), was approached by Julieanne Page, the Operations Manager of Heathspace South to see whether the society would be interested in supplying some paintings for the premises. PAS came to see the venue and were delighted, as it provided a wonderful space to exhibit artwork; being new, spacious; and with plenty of wall space – plus recent surveys confirm artwork is extremely therapeutic in a healthcare environment!

PAS approached 12 of their members, whose art they felt would both complement, and be appropriate, for the venue, all 12 were delighted and all of them said they would be happy to support the venue and provide paintings. The artists involved were also happy to support Best Practice chosen charity and 10% of all sales are being donated to The Rowan’s Hospice, who have already received a donation as three paintings have been sold since the venue opened.  As a joint venue, it has enabled Best Practice to have a display of artwork for visitors to see whilst in the general waiting areas and consulting rooms, and the individual artists have a unique opportunity to display and sell their work.

Best Practice is open for anyone wishing to come and view these paintings at any time during opening hours. Contact 023 9226 7000 and see the map page for directions >

PAS also have their annual major exhibition at Portsmouth Cathedral starting on Sunday 29th July running to Friday 10th August. Entry is free and features over 600 paintings, by over 90 artists. The Private View Is Sat 28th July 6-7:30pm – PAS would be delighted to see you!
